Natura Book Club Vol. 1

What are the therapy books that speak to me? Here a couple of selections that I always seem to keep close by, and pull something meaningful out from each read.

  1. Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. What can I say? This is a must have for anyone wanting to become more intentional about how they both speak and receive language, emphasizing emotions and needs as the connective tissue between us all.

  2. My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menakem. Resmaa has a unique way of communicating that hits at a fundamental core of humanity. He brings a compassionate, honest, and direct approach to history, trauma, and the impacts of each on the body and mind.

  3. The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller. We all grieve, as it is a necessary aspect of being human. That being said, how‍ ‍do we grieve? Francis gently walks us through traditions of grief from multiple angles, and invites the reader to essentially become in-relation to grief.

These books are works that I find meaningful, and that speak to me as a counselor, and are not intended to serve as therapy or be prescriptive in nature.
