Welcome to Natura Psychotherapy, PLLC
Humanistic and holistic existential therapy. In-person and virtual in Seattle and WA.
Hi, I’m James, MA, LMHC and owner/therapist of Natura Psychotherapy, PLLC.
I draw from a depth-work approach to therapy, combing evidence-based psychodynamics and ACT to existential therapy. I believe that you are the expert of your life, and hold a non-pathologizing and non-judgmental stance as we explore what matters to you.
I enjoy helping clients build more meaningful and balanced relationships both inward and outwardly, foster confidence and positive self-talk, and develop a more manageable relationship with anxiety.
If you are interested in working together, the first step is to start with a free consultation, here.
What is Natura Psychotherapy?
natura (ˌna-toor-ə): from Latin, meaning nature
Humanistic/relational/existential therapy for meaningful change. Part of our human nature is to be struck with questions that have no clear answers. “Do I stay? Should I leave?” “Am I happy? Do I feel content?” “What is my purpose in life?” “Am I too flexible with boundaries? Too rigid?” Though as your therapist I cannot answer these questions for you, I am ready to collaborate with you on this part of your life, as you find what speaks to you authentically.
Areas of Focus
-
Let's face it, anxiety is a fundamental part of the human experience. Though it will never truly subside, let's work to try and get it to a manageable level. Whether you are struggling with second-guessing, decision-making, wondering if people are thinking the worst of you, or are processing death anxiety, recognizing and giving language to these patterns is a crucial first step towards entering a more balanced relationship with anxiety.
-
Maybe you’ve experienced the pattern: you show up in relationships with good intentions, are flexible with people’s requests, and accommodate to other’s needs–and yet something still feels missing in your relationships. Something feels off or out of balance. Unequal, even. Over time, this is exhausting, and distance seems like the only outcome. But distance and silence in relationships might not feel fulfilling if it becomes a regular thing. In therapy, we’ll work on vocalizing emotions, needs, and boundaries when necessary, as you decide what relationships you want to improve, and those you are ready to move on from.
-
Are you struggling with writer’s block, feeling uninspired with art, or have always wanted to develop your creative muscle? Therapy can be your space for us to look at what’s impeding the creative process and hampering down on inspiration, and work to get your authentic voice where you want it.
-
Maybe you don't feel how you used to, and don’t look forward towards events that once excited you. I want to validate that it can feel lonely in these places, and often even isolating at times. Therapy can be a place where you can connect with the deep emotions you carry, accept the difficulty that comes with painful feelings, and tap into that in the world that gives you meaning and purpose.
-
How we talk to and see ourselves is a major aspect to how we feel, simply put. Are you your biggest advocate in life? If at some point in time you learned not to be, or not to be your authentic self, therapy is a great place to help understand the importance of positive self-talk, and how it shapes our confidence, strengthens our relationships, and let's us be able to become less vigilant about what people may or may not be thinking about us.
